How can I get to Bratislava with bus from Vienna?

I will stay in Vienna for some days and then I will head on to Bratislava. How can I get there in an easy way with bus?

A very good solution is to use Eurolines and their coach service which will take you both from the center of Vienna and from Vienna Airport to three different stops in the center of Bratislava. It is quite reasonable prices for this service, so very easy to use and to enjoy!

Ice skating for two more days in front of Vienna City Hall

Since January 24th and until March 9th the legendary and fantastic ice skating rink will be running in front of the City Hall in Vienna. Do you have some skates to bring with you, come along and try the ice. If you have arrived to Vienna without skates, borrow some skates on the spot and try this fantastic activity in Vienna!

The area in front of the City Hall of Vienna hosts one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the world from late November until the end of December every year. Then there is a small break, and then from the end of January the traditional ice rink comes to the square and fills as much as 7000 square metres with ice. The longest track on the square gives people the chance of skating as much as 750 metres on the ice, absolutely worth trying.

So, if you are in town and have time, visit the City Hall, or at least the square in front of it, and enjoy a really cool visit to the ice rinks. They are open from 9 in the morning until 22.00 in the evening.

While in Vienna you better taste some traditional Austrian beer. Some of the most famous brands are Steffl and Gosser, but if you are lucky you can find some even more local in some of the bars, pubs and restaurants around.

Shopping

Austria is known for shopping. Here you can find the famous Kartner Strasse and the Mariahilferstrasse. In these streets you can find lots of shops, restaurants, cafes and women often get stuck here for days. The area close to the Stephansdom (Graben) is known to be among the most expensive areas for shopping in Vienna.

Horse carriage

If you want to see Vienna in an old fashioned way, then watch Vienna from a horse carriage. Visit areas such as Hofburg and feel like an emperor as you are taken around.

New Kids on the Block Vienna 2014

New Kids on the Block once was a super popular band. They are not that popular anymore, but they are still going strong. In 2013 they toured together with Backstreet Boys, but now they are out there alone again, and on May 15th they will come to Vienna.

Where can I watch the opening ceremony online in German?

I am living in Amsterdam at the moment, but I would like to watch the opening ceremony in Sochi live online, with German/Austrian commentators. How can that be done? What Austrian channels will broadcast from the Olympics?

We had a very similar question not long ago, but this is still a bit different because you focus on the opening ceremony. What is for sure, is that ATV has the rights in Austria to broadcast from the opening ceremony (and the final ceremony). The rest of the events during the Olympics will be broadcasted by ORF, and hopefully everything will be available online.
