Austria Wien vs Rosenborg

Do you like a good football match? On Thursday at 19.00 Austria Wien will host a Europe League qualification match against Rosenborg from Norway on Ernst Happen Stadium.

Rosenborg is a well known team in Europe and for sure the most famous Norwegian team. They have been playing in the Champions League several times, but in the last years they haven’t really managed to reach success in Europe. Last year they qualified for the Europe League, but they ended up on the last place in their group and did not manage to win any of their matches. But, what about Austrian Wien? Can they beat the Norwegian champions?

If you want to watch the match then the stadium is located not far from Prater, the fantastic fun park in the center of Vienna. From there you can go with a little train and end up by the stadium. The stadium is a giant one, meaning that there will for sure be free tickets if you should want to watch the match between Austria Wien and Rosenborg.

While in Vienna we recommend that you visit the Museum of Fine Arts which is one of the finest museums in Vienna. For shopping we recommend that you walk around in the center near the Stephansdom. Grand Opening at Rathausplatz today!

Christmas Market Vienna
Christmas Market Vienna

It is Friday the 13th of November and today it is time for the grand opening of the Christmas Market at Rathausplatz in 2015. This is the one of the best looking and nicest Christmas Markets in all of Europe, so if you have the chance you should get over there today to taste some real gluhwein and to buy some strawberries covered in chocolate!

There is so much to do and so much to see at the Christmas Market at Rathausplatz, but the place really turns magical as the sun goes down (around 17.00), because then the amazing Christmas lights are turned on and the city hall itself turns into the most magical Disney castle you could ever imagine. In every three you can see colored lights and with Christmas music in the background it is simply stunning. And one more reason to go and check it out right away, is that the real winter temperatures have not yet arrived to Vienna, meaning that you can be lucky and be able to enjoy the Christmas Market with temperatures above 10 Celsius, which is way better than freezing like crazy in -5 Celsius. Let us assure you that the hot wine tastes good also in 10 Celsius, so you do not actually need those minus degrees to be able to enjoy the Christmas Market at Rathausplatz.

But, what should you buy at the Christmas Market? You should of course buy the hot wine, buy some sausages and taste some cakes and sweets. Except from that you can buy some Mozart chocolate around in souvenir shops in Vienna. If you want to buy something completely different for friends and family, then you could consider some tasty organic coffee, but you will not find that in Vienna at the Christmas market, but you can buy it online. There are of course coffee stores in Vienna, so look around if you are interested!

We wish you a merry Christmas and hope you will enjoy the Christmas markets in Vienna and that you will be able to enjoy it, and that you will find the Christmas presents you are looking for, be it coffee, tea, wine, chocolate or something else.

Christmas Market in Vienna 2015

Christmas Market ViennaThe annual Christmas markets are soon back to Vienna this year again. From the end of November and the beginning of December the official Christmas period starts which means that the different part of the city turns into beautiful Christmas villages and fairs with the various Christmas lights and decorations.

Like in every year this year´s Christmas fairs will offer the best hand made high quality Christmas goodies. So which are the best Christmas markets in Vienna in 2015?

Probably one of the most popular and famous fair in Vienna is the Christkindlmarkt at Rathausplatz, the fair will open its gates from 13th November 2015 to 26th December 2015 every day from ten in the morning until ten in the evening except on 24th December when the market is only open until 7 in the evening.

The other really popular market in Vienna is the Christmas Village / New Year´s Eve Village which will take place at the Maria Theresien Platz from 18th November to 31st December 2015. The fair is open from Sunday to Thursday from 11 in the morning until 9.30 in the evening and from Friday to Saturday from 11 in the morning until ten in the evening, on 24th December it is open until 4 in the afternoon and between the 25th and 30th it is open until 7.30 in the evening.

The market is situated between the Museum of Art History and Natural History. The last market we would like to mention is the Advent Market at Karlskirche. The Advent Market will be open from 20th November 2015 until 23rd December 2015 every day from noon to 8 in the evening. The market usually offers various children programs and workshops such as pony tracking.

And no not forget the Christmas market by Schonbrunn which will open on November 21st in 2015. It will last until December 26, but from December 27th the program will go on until January 3rd, but in this period they call it a New Years market. Have fun and enjoy!

Enjoy the Vienesse Opera in Mission Impossible 5

Mission Impossible 5Mission Impossible 5 has just come to the cinemas in Austria and what a beautiful surprise that it there are a whole lot of scenes from Vienna in the film, and then especially from the Opera in Vienna.

In the film you can see Tom Cruise as he travels with the metro in Vienna, as he leaves the metro at Karlsplatz only to walk towards the Opera and of course enter into the Opera. Later we get to see some really nice night shots of the Opera house and of course some stunts as they run around on the roof of the opera and so on. These things make it worth watching the film all by themselves, but as the film in fact was cute amusing and Tom Cruise played the special agent in a cool way as always, we really had a good time as we watch Mission Impossible 5 (also known as Rogue nation) in the cinema.

Want to watch it as well? It is not yet available on Amazon.com, but by the time you read this article it might be. You can find the film at Amazon.com and if you want more information about watching Amazon Instant Videos online, visit amazonprime.fromabroad.org.

Do not forget that if you have not seen the previous Mission Impossible films yet, then you can watch all of them at Amazon.com.

Can I watch the Rugby 2015 WC in Vienna?

Yes, you can! There will probably be some pubs here and there which will show the action, but the best solution is probably to follow the instructions which you can find in this article on www.watchworldcup.net.

Unfortunately (or maybe luckily) rugby is not at all a popular sport in Vienna and in Austria, so there are very few who are actually interested in this sport. Football is a much more popular sport and with the Austrian national team progressing and getting better and better, this is the sport that will attract crowds in Austria, something that can not be said about rugby. So, if you find some live broadcast from the rugby world cup in a pub or sports bar in Austria and in Vienna, please write a comment to share information about its location so that other visitors to this page and article can get hold of that information. Until then we recommend watching it online and you can find the instructions on how to watch it online in the article linked to above.
