X Cross Run is arranged in the popular Prater area in Vienna, the number one location for running competitions in Vienna. There are so many running competitions arranged in this area every year, but it is quite obvious that X Cross Run is one of the biggest highlights.

RUN 15 2024

When people hear about the Mariahilfer Strasse in Vienna, most think of shopping. But, if you come to Vienna for Run 15, you will associate the same street with running competitions and a lot of fun. There are running competitions for the entire family in this popular street during this annual running competition.

You can find the website of Run 15 at https://run15.at/de/. As you can see, there are competitions for kids, and then there are running competitions for adults. The shortest distance for the kids is 300 meters, while teenagers run 1000 meters, and the main race is 8000 meters. In other words, there are great competitions for everyone available who wants to participate in this race.

Above you can see the route used during the race. It is 2000 meters, meaning that those running the 8km distance will do this distance four times.

Running Competition (Women only) 2024

Vienna Night Run 2024

Vienna is a fantastic city, and it looks even more beautiful as you discover it at night. Why don’t you come together with thousands of others to participate in the annual Vienna Night Run, an event that has taken place in Vienna since 2007?

Vienna Night Run isn’t a complicated race. All participants must run 5 kilometers along the famous Ring in Vienna. Along the way, you will see beautiful attractions and sights, and you don’t have to worry about cars or anything else as you run.

What are the most important things you need to know about the race?

The race normally takes place in the autumn, late in October. It takes place a bit outside the city center of Vienna, but still within the borders of the city. There are three distances to choose from; 7km, 15km, or 23km. It is one thing to run 7km or 23km in a flat city, but this race is different. The 7km race has an elevation gain of 300 meters, while the 15km race has an elevation gain of 550 meters. If you decide to run the longest distance, you will experience an elevation gain of 1000 meters.

New Year’s Run 2024

Are you ready to finish the year in a fantastic way? Why not take part in the fantastic New Year’s Run in Vienna? Run along the beautiful ring in Vienna, see beautiful attractions, enjoy the fellowship of thousands of other runners, and burn some calories. This and more is possible if you come to run the New Year’s Run in Vienna on December 31.

It is worth knowing that several Christmas markets in Vienna are still open at this time, meaning that you can easily combine some Christmas market atmosphere and shopping with the New Year’s Run. The race starts University of Vienna (which is very close to Rathausplatz). From there, you run towards the Danube, along the Danube, before you head towards the Stadtpark (City Park), the Museums quarter, the Burgtheater, the Parliament, and then end up by the City Hall and the university. As you cross the finish line, you have run more than 5300 meters in a beautiful environment.

You have a total of 90 minutes to finish the race, meaning that you can easily walk the distance within ninety minutes. Enjoy this chance to discover Vienna walking in the middle of the roads that are normally filled with cars.

Advent Run

You have probably heard about the fantastic Christmas markets in Vienna. Would you like to combine a weekend where you visit the legendary Christmas markets with a running competition in the fabulous Prater area (where you can also find a Christmas market)? It is time to register for the annual Advent Run in Vienna.

The Advent Run in Vienna is available for runners who want to run either 3km or 7km. The event takes place in the Prater area, and the start is from Prater Hauptallee. This area is popular for running competitions in Vienna, meaning that there are several other running competitions happening in exactly the same area at other times of the year.

All participants run the 3km route first. If you sign up for the 10km race, you will continue with the traditional 7km route which is in use in other races such as the Leopoldi Run.

The entry fee for the race is normally 26 euros, but if you only register on the spot in front of the race, the price will be a little bit higher.

Advent Run 2024

Leopold Run 2024

Are you eager to run either 7km, 14km, or 21km in a race in the Prater area in Vienna? This area is commonly used for running competitions, and during the Leopoldi Run you can decide to run a set track either once, twice, or three times. If you run the distance three times, you will have finished a half-marathon by the time you cross the finish line.

It is possible to come to the area on the day of the competition to partake, but if the maximum number of runners has been reached, you will not be able to participate. The registration fee is normally around 30 euros if you register beforehand, while it costs about 32 euros if you register on the spot.

There is little information about the Leopoldi Run in English online, but the most important you need to know is that the race starts from Prater Hauptallee, and the full race takes place in the area surrounding Prater. You can see a map showing the route for the races below.

But, if you want to walk from the location of the race to the Stephansdom, then you should be prepared to walk about 3.5 km. But, if you are able to run 7, 14, or 21km, that shouldn’t cause you much trouble. If you use the metro, you can get to the city center in less than 10 minutes.

Why is the race called the Leopold Run?

The run received its name from the patron Saint of Vienna and Austria named Leopold. He lived in the 12th century and played a crucial role in the governance of the Babenberg territories, contributing to the expansion and development of the region during his reign. He is remembered for his strong Christian faith and dedication to justice.

It should also be mentioned that the run takes place in the Prater area which is a part of the district named Leopoldstadt, also named after Leopold.

Vienna Summer Night Race

There is something special about running in a city in the evening or at night. More and more cities have introduced so-called night runs in addition to the traditional marathons and half-marathons, and Vienna is one of them. Every year in June, the Vienna Summer Night Race invites runners from all across the world to participate and enjoy the beautiful city of Vienna while running distances of either 5km or 10km.

This race, like many other running competitions in Vienna, is arranged in the Prater area. The Vienna Summer Night Race is ideal for those running alone, or you can join and run together with two of your friends. It is possible to register as an individual, or as a group of three for both the 5km and the 10km distances.

The races start at Prater Hauptallee Praterstern and you run up and down the area surrounding the famous Prater Amusement Park, and you also run close to the famous Ernst-Happel Stadium in Vienna.
