Eurovision or the Eurovision Song Contest is one of the most popular and watched non-sporting events in Europe. Eurovision is an annual song competition and it has been held since 1956. The countries that are participating in the contest are the members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

The European Broadcasting Union was formed in 1950. Each year every member country submits a song to perform on live tv and then the votes from each countries will decide which one is the most popular song in the competition. The Eurovision is the longest and most popular running tv shows in the world. The winner of the Eurovision has the opportunity to further their career. Several artists and bands started their career at one of the Eurovision Song Contests including ABBA who won the contest for Sweden with the sing Waterloo in 1958, Celine Dion for Switzerland who won with a French song in 1988 and the latest winner of the Eurovision Song Contest was Conchita Wurst from Austria who won the contest last year in 2014.

Every year the winner country has the opportunity to be the host country of the next Eurovision Song Contest and this year in 2015 the Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Austria. It will be the 60th annual Eurovision since the first show. The show will take place in the capital of Austria in Vienna after Conchita Wurst won the contest last year in Copenhagen in Denmark with the song Rise Like a Phoenix.

Grand Prix 2015The semi-finals of the Eurovision will be held on 19th May and 21st May in 2015 and the final will be 23rd May in 2015. This will be the second time Austria will be the hosting country of the contest the first time was in 1967. Every year the contest has a theme or slogan, last year it was #JoinUs and in 2015 the slogan of the Eurovision Song Contest will be Building Bridges. Austria is participating in the contest since 1957. For the competition in 2015 so far 31 countries confirmed their participation including Serbia, Cyprus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain, France, Germany and so on. The deadline of the application to the contest was 15th September in 2014. In Vienna the competition will be held at Weiner Stadthalle in 2015.
