If you are a fan of animals, and maybe especially interested in life in the sea, then the aquarium in Vienna named Haus des Meeres is the place you and your family should visit.
Haus des Meeres, or the aquarium, is located near the Mariahilferstrasse, meaning that it has a very central location in Vienna. It is located in a very old fashioned and tall building, but once on the inside it does not really matter that the building does not like the most modern from the outside.
The aquarium, by some called an Aqua Terra Zoo, consist of 10 floors. If you start from the top and go downwards you might get a bit disappointed in the start, because it seems like there will be so little to see on each floor, but if you start from the bottom and go upwards you will be tired enough as you get to the higher floors, and you will not really care that there is not so much to see on each floor as you leave floor 4.
Inside Haus des Meeres you can see alligators, sharks, spiders, bats and lots of other animals. It is a quite traditional aquarium, but few aquariums in the world can enjoy such a beautiful view as Haus des Meeres in Vienna. From the top floors you can make beautiful panorama pictures of Vienna, and just like from the Danube tower you can enjoy something to eat and drink in the cafe at the top floor.
The entrance fee for adults is about 15 Euro.
